Philadelphia, February 15, 2017Irish American Films, a Philadelphia based film production outfit announces the official launch of the company. In a syndicate between Shawn Swords and Roger Bruce, producers of Character Driven Productions, who have produced three nationally distributed feature length documentaries, and Joe Magee, the owner of Marty Magee’s Irish Pub, Irish American Films has emerged to produce high quality feature length documentary films and television programming that chronicle the rich, vivid history of the Irish American people and their contributions to the progress and enrichment of American culture.

“During the course of filming our Irish Philadelphia Feature Film project it became abundantly clear to our entire crew that the Irish American Well was a very deep one with a treasure trove of amazing stories of perseverance, resilience, advancement and accomplishment that need to be explored, realized and bought to the screen to entertain, enlighten and savor for the sake of posterity and acknowledgement”,” states Shawn Swords, producer and director Irish American Films. The company is currently in post-production and final editing on their first feature length documentary titled: “The Cut” The Journey of the Men and Women of Duffy’s Cut, that chronicles the story of the Irish immigrants who came to American in the 1800’s to work on the section of the Pennsylvania railroad known as Duffy’s Cut. In conjunction with Frank and Bill Watson who have spearheaded the Duffy’s Cut project, the feature wrapped principal photography in early 2017 and is due for public exhibition April, 1st.

In addition to “The Cut,” Irish American Films has been at work on additional projects slated for release in 2017. These projects include a documentary titled “Irish Philadelphia,” which explores the Irish American history in Philadelphia, a feature length documentary on the Molly Maguire’s, the Irish immigrant coal miners working and living in Pennsylvania, and also a Philadelphia Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Feature. The company will be seeking sponsorship from individuals, civic groups and corporations in The Philadelphia Metropolitan Area to assist in underwriting these films. “I’m so excited for not only the release of The Cut, but really for all of the films we currently have in our production pipeline,” says producer and host Joe Magee. “To be able to bring to life entertaining projects that showcase the Irish Culture in Philadelphia while having mass appeal is something that really drives me.”

“The Cut” The Journey of the Men and Women of Duffy’s Cut is scheduled to premiere on April 1st 2017. The official trailer will be released on February 25th and pre-orders for the DVD and downloadable media are currently available on the company’s website.
