CBS3 chromed gold CW Flat Dual (2)CBS 3 and The CW Philly 57 will launch the 26th annual Joy of Sharing toy campaign benefitting children in need this holiday season on Friday, November 28th during a special Talk Philly segment at 12 noon on CBS 3.

The Philly POPS’ Festival Brass will join Pat Ciarrocchi and Ukee Washington to kick-off the campaign with some holiday cheer.  The POPS will be joining the campaign this year, collecting toys at all of its Christmas Spectacular performances at the Kimmel Center beginning December 6th through December 20th.

 All five of the CBS RADIO stations in the market – KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, SportsRadio 94WIP,  CBS Sports Radio 610 and Talk Radio 1210 WPHT – will also join in the holiday tradition by collecting toys at their studios, participating in campaign events and promoting the drive on air.

 

Eyewitness News Anchors Chris May and Jessica Dean will be requesting new, unwrapped toys for local children through public service announcements airing on both stations through Friday, December 19th when the stations wrap up the season with an all-day drive through drop-off.  The Salvation Army, which distributes the toys to children throughout the region, will be on site that day filling the final truckload of toys just in time for the holidays.  One of the longest-running TV public service campaigns in the region, the Joy of  Sharing has provided toys for  more than 100,000 children in need over the years.

 

On-air radio personalities Carol MacKenzie and Brandon Brooks from KYW Newsradio 1060, Ross Brittain and Valerie Knight from 98.1 WOGL, Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis from SportsRadio 94WIP and Rich Zeoli from Talk Radio 1210 WPHT  will be featured in TV spots soliciting toy donations and will be on site on drop-off day.

 

Toys will also be collected at numerous locations throughout the Delaware Valley, including a number of tree lighting ceremonies where CBS 3’s meteorologists and the CBS 3 Mobile Weather Lab will be on site. On Monday, December 1st, Meteorologist Kathy Orr will host the Moorestown Tree Lighting Ceremony in New Jersey and Kate Bilo will host the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony in Philadelphia. CBS 3 will be on site Thursday, December 4th at the East Passyunk Annual Tree Lighting Party.  Then, on Friday December 5th, Carol Erickson will host the Blue Cross River Rink WinterfestTree Lighting. The week of tree lightings will conclude with the South Street Headhouse District Winter Wonderland on Sunday, December 7th.

 

Additionally, the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia will present Teatime in Wonderland where families are encouraged to bring a toy to benefit the initiative. The teas will be held every Saturday beginning November 29th in the Swann Lounge.  Also, The Philadelphia Flyers will support the campaign by hosting a Joy of Sharing Day and collecting toys at the December 13th game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
