The Irish American Business Chamber & Network presents its Ambassador Award annually to the company that exemplifies our mission, stated above. The Ambassador’s Award is symbolic of the long and historically significant relationship that exists between our great countries, a relationship that precedes the American Revolution. The award was created to:
• Recognize and promote the achievements of our members and our member companies
• Raise awareness of and continue our mission
• Strengthen the position of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware as a prime place for Irish and US companies to do business, and for local companies to learn more about Ireland’s business opportunities
The company receiving the Ambassador’s Award, named in honor of the Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, will join the ranks of these former honorees: Neumann University, Independent Container Line/Port of Cork/PSA Penn Terminals, Aer Lingus, Teleflex, Adapt Pharma, Beneficial Bank, Almac Group, QVC, SAP, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Shire Plc., ARAMARK, The Vanguard Group, ICON Plc., Amicus Therapeutics, Cross Atlantic Capital Partners, GMAC, ICT Group, Siemens, and Wyeth.
The Irish American Business Chamber presents its Taoiseach Award to an individual of Irish descent who has demonstrated leadership in business and support of the Irish American community. This award is named after the old Irish title for “Chieftain.” The current Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, is the political leader and Prime Minister in the Republic of Ireland.
The Irish American Business Chamber presents its Uachtarán Award to an individual of Irish descent or an organization that has shown exemplary compassion and leadership in philanthropic contributions of time and talent to non-profits in this region or in Ireland. The award is named in honor of the “Uachtarán,” which is Irish for President. The President of Ireland has taken on the role of cultural leader of the Irish nation and spends a great deal of time building cultural, charitable, and educational ties both in Ireland and around the world. The current Uachtaran is Michael D. Higgins.
