On Aug. 6, 2014, Ireland’s president signed into law the Employment Permits (Amendment) Bill of 2014, which reworks permit criteria and categories.
The changes will be effective in September 2014, and the purpose of the legislation is to codify the Irish immigration system and expand the lists of eligible occupations and highly skilled occupations. Employers are anticipated to have an easier time clarifying rules and processes. Nine categories have been created under the policy update.
