On Friday, September 27, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar opened the newest Irish Consulate in the United States, celebrating the start of a new era for the Irish in Los Angeles and the surrounding area.

“Great event in Los Angeles this to open our new Consulate, as part of our Global Ireland programme. LA has a global reputation for turning today’s ideas into tomorrow’s innovations. That’s one of the reasons we want to expand our presence in California,” the Taoiseach said.

One of the Irish companies featured in our inaugural “Good Spirits” event, The Muff Liquor Company, has launched a crowdfunding campaign selling shares of the company through a company called Crowdcube.

The Muff Liquor Company sold 24,000 bottles in its first 14 months, won gold at the World Gin Masters competition in Hong Kong & secured listings with one of the largest drinks distributors to the UK. It seeks to expand its presence in Asia where the craft spirits market will have a compound annual growth rate of 5.4%.
