‘Beachgoer’s paradise’: Lonely Planet names Ireland’s top 10 beaches
The Irish Times

Lonely Planet has picked its top 10 beaches in Ireland, describing the 6,200km coastline here as a “beachgoer’s paradise”.

The travel-guide publisher’s selection of beaches ranges from “quiet coves” to “great stretches of golden sand”, most of them along the western seaboard, with Co Donegal and Co Kerry particulary well represented.

Killiney Beach, just south of Dublin city, is the only beach on the east coast to make the list, with the surrounding bay being described as resembling the Bay of Naples, in Italy.

The guide recommends visiting the beaches on a sunny summer’s day, running your hands through the soft sand and imagining yourself 20 degrees closer to the equator. To view the full list, please click HERE.

Nearly 10 percent of the U.S. population identifies as fully or partially Irish American. Fortunately for them, Ireland’s citizenship-by-ancestry program is one of the most straightforward. The first step to acquiring Irish citizenship is to file with the Foreign Birth Registration, a process that typically takes between 12 and 18 months. (Note: Processing of applications has been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, so expect that timeline to be drawn out further in the near future.) Once you’re in the registry, dual citizenship can take another year to obtain—and only then can you apply for an Irish passport. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow: Ireland’s passport is one of the world’s most powerful, granting fortunate holders visa-free access to 186 countries plus freedom of movement throughout the E.U. Learn more here.

For the first time, Phillies fans can stream radio broadcasts of every game in addition to listening to them on SportsRadio 94 WIP.

Games previously could only be heard by tuning into WIP via radio. Those listening to the station on the Audacy app or the WIP website would be redirected to syndicated sports talk programming when the games started.
