Georgetown Conference joins together U.S. and Ireland

Georgetown University, University College Dublin, and Queens University Belfast this week jointly hosted a virtual gathering on the theme of “Bridging the Atlantic.”

The event was the second of its kind, a physical gathering having taken place on the campus of the Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown a year ago.

This year’s lineup for the conference, which took place on Tuesday, November 17, included remarks from former president  Bill Clinton and a panel discussion featuring Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs,  Simon Coveney, and U.S. House of Representatives members Peter King and Richard Neal in what was likely their final appearance together as co-chairs of the Friends of Ireland on Capitol Hill.

Female Irish Entrepreneur Launches Bakery Despite Pandemic
Washington, DC – Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 

Caroline Johnston, from the beautiful town of Greenisland, was taught from a young age to bake by her mother, a home economics teacher. Caroline’s soon-to-be 100-year-old grandmother was also an inspiration while growing up in Northern Ireland.

Find local travel experiences in Ireland with a new digital directory

Called Go Wild Ireland, the platform was recently created by the Irish travel magazine of the same name, and aims to make it as seamless as possible for businesses to list their offerings online. With Ireland having just become the first European country to enter into a full lockdown for the second time this year, the platform will allow users to search for hotels, restaurants, points of interest and Irish companies selling food and drinks. Categories include accommodation, attractions, pottery and ceramics, independent retail stores and online fashion.
