Philadelphia will also be participating in Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening – look out for our “green” landmarks during St. Patrick’s week!

The Colosseum in Rome, the Sacré-Cœur in Paris and the leaning tower of Pisa are among the world famous locations going green for St Patrick’s Day as part of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greening initiative.

Society Hill Playhouse presents LAFFERTY’S WAKE, an Irish-style comedy with lots of audience involvement. LAFFERTY’S WAKE, the interactive Irish comedy returns to the Society Hill Playhouse Cabaret for a limited run. LAFFERTY’S WAKE premiered at Society Hill Playhouse in 1998  and was written on commission by Susan Turlish. LAFFERTY’S WAKE has entertained audiences throughout the country. LAFFERTY’S WAKE opens Friday, March 6, 2015 at 8 PM and is scheduled to run Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00pm through April 12, 2015.

Tickets can be purchased through the Society Hill Playhouse website: www.societyhillplayhouse.org   or at the door of the theatre on the day of the show. Society Hill Playhouse is located at 507 S Eighth Street, Philadelphia PA 19147.

Philadelphia’s Parade Grand Marshal Redefines “Family”

The Irish Chamber is very proud to support our own, Kathy McGee Burns, as she leads this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

“I’m bored with my story,” Kathy McGee Burns tells me as she settles down on a chair in front of her fireplace, where a gas fire leaps and dances. “You’re probably bored with my story too,” she laughs. She’s wearing a black and white dress with a commanding statement necklace of silver and pearlized globes the size of ping pong balls around her neck. “Like it?” she asks. “I was wearing it the other night at a meeting when I was introduced as ‘the shy’ Kathy McGee Burns. And I stood up and said, ‘Yes, I’m shy.’” She laughs again.
