Bill McLaughlin, Irish Chamber Founder and Chairman Emeritus, is now an Irish Citizen!

Notification from the Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs is the culmination of a lengthy process made possible by the births of his mother’s parents Mary Murtaugh and Thomas Byrne in County Mayo.  His grandfather died before he was born but his grandmother lived with Bill and his family in Delaware County until she passed when he was 13.  This distinction comes just ahead of Bill’s 80thbirthday this week on February 26 and could not be a more meaningful or timely celebration. According to Bill, “I always knew in my heart and soul that I’m Irish, and I have no doubt my Grandmom and Mom would be very proud and thrilled for me.”
