Irish American Business Chamber and ICON Clinical Research partner to present Life Sciences Forum

Philadelphia, PA, October 26, 2017 – The Irish American Business Chamber & Network has announced that it will partner with Ambassador Club member, ICON Clinical Research, to present their third annual Life Sciences Forum on November 16th at ICON’s largest US office in North Wales, PA. The forum is proudly sponsored by Aer Lingus.

Key note speaker, Dr. Garret FitzGerald, Director, Institute for Translational Medicine & Therapeutics at the University of Pennsylvania and winner of the prestigious Science Foundation Ireland St. Patrick’s Day Medal, will open the forum. The dynamic panel will feature Dr. Andrea Perrone, MD, Associate Vice President, Clinical Imaging Translational Medicine at Merck & Co and Mr. Joseph Sirianni, Senior Director Global Engineering Services, Zoetis, and will be moderated by Paul McCracken Ph.D., Vice President, Head of Medical Imaging, ICON plc.

Each year the forum tackles relevant issues to the life sciences industry. This year the panel will focus on Innovation and the Financial Impact Along the Drug Development Path. Panelists will give attendees a detailed, behind-the-scenes reality of bringing a new drug to market, from concept to patient delivery, and how innovative discoveries have impacted this pathway. This hallmark event welcomes audience participation and interaction.

 

The Life Sciences industry is vital to the economy in Pennsylvania. 112,000 people during 2016 were directly employed in the industry, and it was responsible indirectly for an additional 230,000 jobs through business purchases and household expenditures. The industry generated a total (direct and indirect) state economic output of $88.5 billion, comprised of a direct economic impact of $48.8 billion and indirect economic impact of $39.6 billion.
