Aramark reveals name of Uniform Services spinoff business

Philadelphia-based Aramark has revealed the name of the spinoff company for its multibillion-dollar Uniform Services business as the transaction nears completion.

Vestis, which currently operates as Aramark Uniform Services, is expected to fully separate from Aramark (NYSE: ARMK) at the end of the food service company’s fiscal year 2023 in October. The spinoff, announced in May 2022, will make Vestis its own publicly traded company.

The name Vestis comes from the Latin word for garment or clothing. Like Aramark Uniform Services’ current operations, the new company will provide uniforms, full-service rental programs and workplace supplies, including floor mats, towels, linens, restroom services, cleanroom and first aid supplies.

Kim Scott, the current CEO of Aramark Uniform Services and future CEO of Vestis, said in a statement Tuesday that the name of the company connects to its overall mission.

“We are also excited about our future as an independent, publicly traded company and we remain confident that great things are ahead for our teammates, customers, and shareholders,” said Scott, who assumed her current role in October 2021.
