Independence Blue Cross buying Center City skyscraper

Independence Blue Cross has put under agreement for $360 million the building that houses its Center City headquarters, according to various sources familiar with the situation.

The region’s largest health insurer had previously owned the 45-story skyscraper, which was built for it in the late 1980s. It sold the building at 1901 Market St. in the mid-1990s to Prudential Insurance Co. for what was believed to be around $150 million.
