The Irish American Heritage Museum is seeking to hire an Executive Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the museum; engage in marketing, grant-writing, and fundraising; promote cultural and educational activities; create exhibits and live and on-line events; and serve as the official spokesperson for the museum. The museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit created by the New York State Legislature (1986) and permanently chartered by the Board of Regents of New York as an educational institution in 1992. Through exhibits, programs, and a growing library, the museum explores “the contributions, history, and culture of Irish people in America, and fosters dialogue and exchange between America and Ireland today. By sharing our stories, we strive to create connections and community between all Americans, as we appreciate and study the universality of the immigrant story in American history.

The announcement was made by Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Allegheny, co-chair of the American Irish State Legislators Caucus and sponsor of Senate Bill 1121.
“This bill will strengthen the thriving relationship between Pennsylvania and Ireland,” Robinson said in a statement. “Members appointed by the governor, bipartisan legislative leadership, and business leaders with a vested interest in Ireland will drive this initiative.

The annual Commodore John Barry Commemorative Mass will be held on Sunday, September 8th at 10 am at Old St. Mary’s Church in Philadelphia.
A commemorative ceremony following the Mass will take place at Commodore Barry’s gravesite. All are welcome to join the Irish Philadelphia community in remembering and celebrating the founder of the United States Navy and one of the most impactful Irish immigrants in Philadelphia’s history.
