John F. Crowley is the Chairman and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, a publicly traded biotechnology company, which he helped found in 2005 and is now a 300+ person company in 22 countries. John’s involvement with biotechnology stems from the 1998 diagnosis of two of his children with Pompe disease — a severe and often fatal neuromuscular disorder. In his drive to find a cure for them, he left his job and became an entrepreneur as the Co-founder, President, and CEO of Novazyme Pharmaceuticalsin 2000, a biotech start-up conducting research on a new experimental treatment for Pompe disease (which he credits as ultimately saving his children’s lives). In 2001, Novazyme was acquired by Genzyme Corporation for nearly $200 million.

 

Chef Farid Derradji wins Chef of the Year Ireland

Farid Derradji has been named Aramark’s Chef of the Year Ireland following a tense battle for the title at Catex 2017 – a food, drink and hospitality event held at the RDS in Dublin.

Farid currently works for cyber security company Symantec. He joined the Aramark corporation in 2005 and has previous experience in O2Telefonica, PwC, and Oracle as well as being part of the Seasons team at the Guinness Storehouse.

Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX), a leading global provider of medical technologies for critical care and surgery, announced today that Benson Smith will retire from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective on December 31, 2017. Mr. Smith, a Teleflex Board member since 2005, will continue to serve as Teleflex’s Chairman of the Board. He has been nominated by Teleflex’s Board of Directors to serve for another three year term if elected by Teleflex’s stockholders at the 2017 annual meeting to be held in May, 2017.
