Conrad O’Brien was again recognized as one of the Best Law Firms for Female Attorneys as ranked by Law360’s 2019 Glass Ceiling Report. The firm was ranked a top 10 firm for women representation among firms with 20 to 49 lawyers.

At Conrad O’Brien over forty percent of the attorney workforce is women. This number is above the average law firm where, according to Law360’s report, women make up approximately 36.3% of the attorney workforce.

Conrad O’Brien is proud that we are again recognized as one of the firms contributing to the progress of increasing female representation at all levels, from associate to partner. The firm has been recognized by Law360 as a best firm for female attorneys since the first Glass Ceiling report in 2016.

For the rankings, Law360 grouped firms based on U.S. attorney headcount to compare them with similarly sized firms. Firms that had below-average female representation at any level were excluded. The remaining firms are ranked by their percentage of female nonpartners and partners. The firms recognized by Law360 “are demonstrating that the industry’s gender diversity goals can turn into a measurable result, and boost the number of women at all levels of a law firm.”

Fresh sound, new look for KYW Newsradio

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The news sounds a bit different today.

At KYW Newsradio 1060, we’ve spent the last few months crafting and composing updated music for the radio station. We had the help of a Philadelphia string arranger who’s a music industry icon.

But it revolves around something we’d never change.

“The KYW Newsradio jingle is a local treasure that has stood the test of time, been lovingly sung by countless Philadelphians, and has evolved over the decades,” said Entercom Senior Vice President and Market Manager David Yadgaroff. “As KYW Newsradio has transformed into a modern, multi-platform news organization, this is the next step in the evolution of its image.”

So, in the words of Supervising Producer Amy Crawford for Man Made Music, “Let’s not mess it up.”

In Philadelphia, Irish civic leaders discuss Brexit’s harsh impact on their homeland

In Philadelphia this week, a group of Irish men and women are gathered, reflecting the success of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement in bringing peace to Northern Ireland.

But they worry that a looming Brexit — and the British parliament’s hapless efforts to exit the European Union — are already threatening Ireland’s peace. And they wish that the United States, which god fathered the Good Friday deal, would take an active role in its preservation.

They know from personal experience the ugliness that awaits Ireland if the accord fails.

“Unforeseeable Thereness”, an exhibition celebrating the strong ties between Philadelphia and Ireland at Stanek Gallery, 242 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 on Friday, May 3rd.

Nine accomplished artists create visual poetry in paint, sculpture, print and other mediums that reflect their personal connection to the captivating landscape, light and people of Ireland. Thanks to the vision of artist and curator Hollis Heichemer, Stanek Gallery is proud to share with you the fruits of many years of exchange, travel, admiration and collaboration inspired by the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland.

Leaders of Philadelphia-area distillers are pushing for legislation that would create an organization dedicated to marketing and providing dollars to Pennsylvania’s fast-growing spirits makers.

Craft brewers already have a similar organization in place, but now local distillers want the same to assist in their expansion in the region and beyond state borders.

Pennsylvania became one of the more friendlier states in which to do business when in 2011 the state passed massive reforms that enabled spirits makers to offer samples, tours and on-site sales. That’s allowed spirits makers to connect with customers and welcome them into their facilities.
